CAROL LEONHARDT, NEBRASKA WESLEYAN COLLEGE

Carol Leonhardt came to Nebraska Wesleyan University in the fall of 2005 to serve as Coordinator of Service-Learning. Her work as Southeast Community College ESL Coordinator had put her in touch with the immigrant and refugee population served by many of NWU’s community partners. Her interest in service and culture developed while serving as a missionary in the country of Taiwan in the 90’s. Upon returning to the States, Carol completed a Master of Education degree from UN-L with an emphasis in teaching English as a Second Language. She has taught English to international students at Union College and served as a tutor with Lincoln Literacy Council.  She enjoys working in an academic setting with professors and students from many disciplines, because she can use all of her previous educational experiences which include chemistry, language, music, and counseling.
Carol enjoys trying ethnic foods, bicycling, flower gardening, and leading Bible study and prayer groups.
