Meet the Members of the Consortium PATRICK McKINLAY, MORNINGSIDE COLLEGE Patrick F
McKinlay earned his Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame in
Government and International Studies. In 1994, he joined the faculty of
Morningside College in the Department of History and Political Science.
Patrick has utilized service-learning pedagogies since joining
Morningside. From 2001-2004, he served as the Associate Dean for
Siouxland Connections. In this position, Patrick represented the
college in a variety of community outreach activities. In 2000, Patrick
helped students organize a student civic engagement organization, the
Morningside Civic Union. It gained particular momentum during 2003 and
2004, capped off with a voter registration drive that registered over
half of the Morningside student body. Patrick has also served as the
supervisor for the Morningside VISTA program that oversees
service-learning across curricula. He still serves as the VISTA
supervisor; the Morningside representative to both the Iowa Campus
Compact and the Midwest Consortium; advises MCU; serves on the board of
the Siouxland Y (current President); and in June 2005, he was named the
chair of the Department of History and Political Science. |
