Service Learning & Volunteer Services

Academic Service Learning

Academic service-learning is a program that includes a volunteer or service-learning component in the class. Basically, your professor will construct a service component based on class goals, readings, and other projects that lets you use what you’re learning firsthand. For example, if you are in an architecture class you might help renovate a church or other building, and a women’s literature class might work in a women’s shelter. It’s a fun, exciting, and unique way to discover your skills, where you want to go in the future, and what impact your education can have in someone’s life.
